In this inspirational, instructive, highly entertaining book, Ben Collins uses his super-charged experience of racing, stunt-work and cutting-edge scientific knowledge to tell you all of the things you didn't learn on your test - and in the process will make your driving safer, more economical and a lot more enjoyable. The skills described here, from skid control to gear changes that are as smooth as a cashmere codpiece, have been honed on racing tracks by the greatest drivers in the world. This is the stuff your instructor missed, your dad forgot and your mates pretend to know ... but don't.
Ben Collins, formerly The Stig from the BBC's internationally acclaimed Top Gear, was the benchmark of speed against which hundreds of celebrities set themselves,: the man that everyone - including Formula One stars Nigel Mansell and Lewis Hamilton - tried and failed to beat. He is also the go-to guy for Hollywood car chases (he was Bond's stunt driver in every film since Quantum of Solace) and has raced successfully in almost every class imaginable, from Touring Cars and Le Mans 24 Hour to the American Stock Car circuit.
I just found this post and I am so excited to use this for my students. I usually ran multiple mail merges within Word but this is going to save me time since my gradebook is in Google!! Do you have any more articles specifically for teachers?
The real thrill for me was being a passenger on any trip that involved dad behind the wheel. There was always space for an overtaking move. Some of his more manic moves came when he had a Rover SD1. They were eyeopeners! I thought it was great fun, and I used to pull the handbrake coming out of the drive and we would go for it. I had a little pedal kart as a kid which was a scaled-down version of the Formula 1 car with all the wings on it and stuff, and I would skid that around on the patio. I remember doing a figure of
I published my second book in September 2017. What Drives Quality explores how quality plays a role in all of the software development phases, it takes a deep dive into quality by listing the relevant factors of development activities that drive the quality of products.
Number of copies sold: 100,000+ copies, estimated from the fact that his previous three books have sold a combined number of 125,000+ copies, but this being his most popular one by far and has one a bunch of awards the year it was published, which has surely driven sales a lot.

This is no ordinary driver on no ordinary road (this is Millbrook, a private test track in Bedfordshire). But it is an ordinary car - and parked nearby are a Mercedes, a BMW, a Ford, a Vauxhall and a Jaguar, all waiting to be given the same treatment.
To the BBC, it was. In August of last year the Corporation spent more than 38,000 of licence fee-payers' money on an injunction barring 35-year-old racing driver and stuntman Ben Collins from publishing his autobiography The Man In The White Suit, in which he reveals he was The Stig from 2003 to 2010. Collins won the case in the High Court, the judge ruling that his identity was an open secret to anyone smart enough to use Google. If it hadn't gone his way, there's no way Collins would be standing with us now, face exposed, preparing to throwing a series of mid-range saloons sideways around the track (see below).
Collins is proud of a driving career that began in Formula 3 when he was 20, before moving to Le Mans racing and then NASCAR in America. He was the first British driver to do so in 30 years and it was only when his team sponsorship fell through that he moved back to England and auditioned for Top Gear - after Perry McCarthy, the 'Black Stig', was fired for revealing his identity. For the next eight years he worked harder than ever before, but nobody knew about it.
But when we ask him to get his own back by revealing the identity of the new Stig - widely thought to be 26-year-old racing driver Phil Keen (although it could also be F1 drivers Heikki Kovalainen or Anthony Davidson, or German racer Sabine Schmitz) - he politely pleads ignorance.
That poor Suzuki Liana took a lot of punishment on the show. Who was the best pupil? The blind guy was unbelievably good. Jennifer Saunders was the biggest surprise. Some people are natural-born drivers: Tom Cruise, Simon Cowell, Ronnie O'Sullivan. They just had an innate feel for it. Lionel Richie and Trevor Eve did not. They skidded wide, crashed and each of them had a wheel come off. That poor car. Luckily, we always had a spare.'
