A Better City has published a new tool to help you calculate the number of trips needed to recover the cost of your monthly MBTA pass. The Monthly Pass Break-Even Calculator seeks to help inform your decision whether to purchase a monthly MBTA pass for those in a hybrid work situation. To learn the real cost of a pass and the number of full fare trips needed to meet the breakeven point, simply enter into the calculator the level of employer subsidy (if any) and whether or not the pass is purchased with pre-tax dollars through the Perq program. The results are displayed as the number of one-way and round trips needed to cover the cost of the pass. Not only helpful to the individual commuter, this tool also helps employers "do the math" and see the impact that transit benefit dollars can have on the value of a monthly pass for hybrid commutes. The numbers might surprise you.
Other online calculators use various rules of thumb to estimate how much house you can afford, such as "you should never spend more than 43% of your income on a mortgage". We take a different approach. Our home affordability calculator takes your information, checks the latest interest rates, and runs a quick automated underwriting process based on the thousands of combinations of loan products and rates that are available to our borrowers.
Thomas: When using something like "bc"? None. You are just using a calculator app. But if you mean manipulating files and folders, or tampering with system settings using the Terminal, then there is some, yes. But you wouldn't be doing that unless you knew what you were doing and had a good reason to use the Terminal for it, right?
Gary: this might be on the fringe of this topic, but when I started Terminal I see a message I never seen before. This is the message "The default interactive shell is now zsh. To update your account to use zsh, please run `chsh -s /bin/zsh`."Is this significant? Anyways, the calculator works great :) thx
For example, let's say you're hungry for pancakes and need to buy some flour. In the shop, you have two choices: a smaller package - $1 for 1 kg, and a larger one - $1.35 for 1.5 kg. You'd need to consider the unit price to know which is a better buy.
For example, you can compare a dozen eggs for $2.99 and an 18-egg package for $3.50 if you use the unit price calculator in Items mode. The calculator quickly determines that an 18-egg package is cheaper by $0.05/egg.

Taxes: We calculate taxes on a federal, state and local level. The implications of real estate taxes, mortgage interest, mortgage points, mortgage insurance and other factors (including if you do or do not pay the Alternative Minimum Tax) are all considered in our models. To better align with filing season, tax calculations are based on the tax filing calendar, therefore calculations prior to April are based on the previous years tax rules.
For a long time, the common wisdom was that buying a home was a far better financial choice than renting one. As home prices across much of the country marched upward during the 20th century, a house was considered the safest investment around.
Today, there is no clear answer to the rent vs. buy question. In some cities, and for some individuals, buying a home may make more sense, while for others, renting a home may be the better choice. This makes it even more important to run the numbers and see what is best for you and your family.
Developments like the boom in tech jobs and increased migration to sunny West Coast cities have shifted housing economics towards renting in some parts of the country, while in other areas, like the South and Texas, buying is still usually the better bet.
D.C. and Boston have historically been among the most expensive housing markets in the country. In these cities, high up-front costs tilt the economic logic away from homebuying for residents who may plan to move around in the near future (recent graduates, for example). But residents who are settling down for the long-term (like more than 6.5 years) could be better off buying.
Nintendo baffled Switch owners somewhat earlier this month when it added a calculator to its eshop. The addition of something most console owners wouldn't consider using on that platform since pretty much everyone has a calculator on their phone was strange enough. Add to the mix that Calculator for Switch costs $10, the whole thing just becomes downright bizarre.
In the Switch's calculator's defense, it is pretty extensive. It's a scientific calculator so allows you to navigate your way around some pretty difficult sums. Despite its arrival still being a little weird, its reviews have been pretty fantastic. That's right, some have decided to review Calculator for Switch because technically it's a game, we guess.
Well, actually, only one outlet has reviewed Calculator for Switch so far. Gfinity gave the calculator four out of five. The review reads, "calculator accomplishes everything Sabec Limited set out to do. For that, I give it high marks." Fair enough. The calculator's users are even higher on it than Gfinity, rating it so highly that its current score on Metacritic is 9.1, a score that will turn many developers green with envy.

Taxpayers with multiple locations that are subject to ad valorem tax on inventory can file a single Schedule INV. DOR's online inventory tax credit calculator has the capability to track numerous separate locations. Data from each location can be entered into the online calculator and it will generate a single Schedule INV.
If you choose not to use the calculator, copies of all property tax bills that contain inventory tax are required to be attached to the income tax return on which the credit is claimed in addition to the required Schedule INV and Schedule TCS or ITC.
NY-Sun developed the Solar Value Stack Calculator to help contractors better estimate compensation for specific solar projects. The calculator combines the wholesale price of energy with the distinct elements of distributed energy resources (DERs) that benefit the grid: the avoided carbon emissions, the cost savings to customers and utilities, and other savings from avoiding expensive capital investments. Select the calculator that best fits your project.
Taking the average of what they typically have been consuming as of late will give you a better starting point as to what caloric level is currently maintaining their weight. Therefore, if the goal is to lose weight or gain weight, you now have a starting point to adjust the calories as needed (up or down). You can also manipulate macronutrients as needed since you now have a starting point for those as well.
This rent vs. buy calculator provides customized information based on the information you provide. But, it also makes some assumptions about mortgage insurance and other costs, which can be significant. It will help you determine whether buying a home is a better deal than renting.

Graphing calculators are an important part of high school (and eventually college). Not only do students need them for most math classes, like Algebra, Geometry, and Calculus, but they're also an important part of standardized testing. Students taking the SAT or the ACT to get into college will need a calculator while sitting for the exam, and while many schools have the option to borrow one to use in class, having your own at home to practice with can mean higher test scores.
For students planning to take advanced math classes in high school or move on to math- or science-based degree programs in college, investing in a good graphing calculator while in high school can mean paying that one expensive price tag and not worrying about it again. While there are basic graphing calculators on the market, some of the more advanced models are better equipped for advanced math that students may encounter in university. These high-quality calculators have everything from touchscreens to 3D color displays. 2ff7e9595c
